Loop Wallet now lives at wallet.looptech.io. This page explains what that means for your wallet, and what you need to do.
The short version
Nothing has happened to your wallet. Your funds are where you left them, your address has not changed, and cantonloop.com keeps working exactly as it did before. Moving to the new site is something you do yourself, when you are ready. Once the move prompt appears in your wallet you have fifteen days to move, and after that cantonloop.com is only for moving your wallet across.
Is my money gone?
No. Nothing has moved and nothing has been touched. The rebrand changed our name and our web address. It did not change anything about your wallet, your balance, or the network your funds sit on.
If a balance looks wrong to you, contact us with your party ID and we will trace it properly rather than guess.
Why does this not happen automatically?
Because your wallet is yours, not ours. Your private key is held in your browser, encrypted, and we cannot read it. That is the whole point of a self custody wallet.
A site cannot reach into another site's storage, which is exactly the protection that stops a malicious site stealing your key. So moving your wallet is something only you can do. The wallet makes it as short as possible, but the two steps that matter, backing up your key and importing it, happen with you in control.
What the move looks like, screen by screen
It is six screens and it takes a couple of minutes. Nothing here costs anything.
1. Log in at cantonloop.com the way you always do. On your Dashboard you will see a banner, and a box in the middle of the screen, both headed Loop Wallet is getting a new home and a new look. Choose Migrate Now. If you are not ready, Later closes it and the banner stays at the top for whenever you are.
2. A page explains what is about to happen, headed Loop Wallet has a new look and a new home at wallet.looptech.io, and telling you that nothing moves on-chain and you will use the same private key to reach the same wallet. Choose Start Migration.
3. Back Up Your Wallet. Choose Get my private key and the wallet shows you your key. Save it somewhere safe. Then tick I've stored my private key in a safe place and choose Continue. The Continue button stays greyed out until you tick the box, which is deliberate.
4. Import Your Wallet, now on the new site. It asks for two things: the email address on your account and the private key you just saved. There is a Paste button beside the key field. Choose Import Wallet.
5. Choose an Authentication Method. This is how you will sign in and approve transactions from now on, and you pick one of two: Passkey, which uses your device's biometrics, or Password, which you create here.
6. That is it. Your new wallet opens. Same party ID, same balance, same history, in the new design.
Where do I find my key?
The move hands it to you at step 3 above, so you do not need to have it saved in advance.
If you would rather get it yourself first, it is in your wallet under Settings, listed as Private Key, while you are logged in at cantonloop.com. Read it before you clear your browser, change device, or lose access to that login.
You can also start from the other end: go to wallet.looptech.io and choose Import wallet. That works too, but you still need your private key from cantonloop.com first, so starting at cantonloop.com is simpler.
Moving is free. Nothing moves on the network, so there is no fee and nothing to pay for.
I sign in with Google, or with a passkey
It makes no difference. Log in at cantonloop.com however you normally do, and the move runs exactly as described above. At no point does it ask you for a password on the old site.
The only place a password comes up is step 5, and only if you choose it there. Passkey is the alternative, and either one is a fresh choice you make on the new site. Nothing from how you sign in today has to carry across.
What if I do not have my private key?
You do not need to have it saved anywhere in advance. If you can log in at cantonloop.com, the move shows you your key as part of step 3.
If you cannot log in at cantonloop.com at all, the move is not what is blocking you. The move reads your key out of the wallet while you are signed in, so signing in is the part that has to work first.
If you do have a copy of your private key saved somewhere, you do not need cantonloop.com at all. Go to wallet.looptech.io, choose Import wallet, and that is your access back and your move done in one step.
If you cannot sign in and you have no copy of the key anywhere, do not start over with a new wallet. Read our article on what to do when you cannot get into your wallet, and contact us.
Will I have two wallets?
No. You will have the same wallet, open in two places.
A wallet is its key. When you import your key on the new site, both sites are looking at the same wallet on the network, the same balance and the same history. There is no copy, no duplicate, and no split. Your party ID on the new site is the same string it was on the old one, and that is the thing you can check for yourself.
What if someone sends funds to my old address?
They arrive normally. Your address has not changed.
Nothing about the rebrand touched the network. Your party ID is the same as it was, so anything sent to you arrives in the same wallet whichever site you happen to be using. That stays true after you have moved, so anyone sending to you does not need to do anything differently.
That is the picture during your fifteen days. Once they have passed, your address is still your address and anything sent to you still belongs to your wallet, but cantonloop.com no longer carries out wallet actions. Anything waiting for you to act on is something you act on at the new site, after you have moved.
What about apps I have connected?
They carry on working. Moving does not disconnect anything and there is nothing to authorise again.
A connection belongs to your wallet on the network, in the same way your balance does, and moving does not change your wallet. You move, and everything continues.
What happens if I do nothing?
Nothing is lost and nothing breaks. Your funds stay exactly where they are, on the network, whether you move or not.
What changes over time is only where you can reach them from. cantonloop.com works as normal for your fifteen days. After that, sending, swapping and the other wallet features stop working there, and moving your wallet to the new site is what stays available.
How long do I have?
Fifteen days, starting the moment the move prompt appears in your wallet.
During those fifteen days cantonloop.com works exactly as it does now. Nothing is restricted and nothing is rushed.
After they pass, sending, swapping and the other wallet features stop working at cantonloop.com. Moving your wallet to the new site stays available to you, and that is how you get everything working again.
Put plainly: after fifteen days, using your wallet means moving it. Moving is the one thing left to do at cantonloop.com, and it is the only thing you need to do.
If you have not seen the prompt yet, nothing is counting down. It appears when you log in, and your fifteen days start from there. Everyone's fifteen days begin at a different moment, because they begin when you personally first see it.
There is no deadline on the move itself. We are keeping it open with no end date for the time being, and if that ever changes we will say so well in advance, here and on our official accounts.
Can I go back to the old site after I move?
Yes. Both sites are looking at the same wallet, so during your fifteen days you can log in wherever suits you and you do not have to choose.
Once your fifteen days have passed, the new site is where you use the wallet, and cantonloop.com is there for moving across.
Do I need a new password?
You choose how you want to sign in at step 5, and it is a fresh choice rather than a copy of your old one. Passkey uses your device's biometrics and there is no password to remember. If you pick Password instead, create a new one rather than reusing the one from the old site.
Whichever you pick covers both signing in and approving transactions on the new site. You can sign in at cantonloop.com the old way at the same time; the two sites hold separate logins even though the wallet behind them is the same.
What happens to my Fee Balance?
Nothing. Your Fee Balance belongs to your wallet on the network, not to the website, so it is there whichever site you log in from. You do not need to top it up again or move it.
I pasted my key but my balance shows zero
Almost always this means the key that was pasted is not the one that was copied, usually a truncated copy or a different key from a notes app.
Do not send funds anywhere. Log back in at cantonloop.com, check that your balance is still there, and copy the key again carefully. If it still shows zero after that, contact us before doing anything else.
Is this a scam?
Checking is the right instinct.
The rebrand is real and it is ours. Here is the one rule that protects you, and it works even if you never read anything else from us:
Moving starts inside your own wallet, after you log in at cantonloop.com yourself. That is the only way in.
Only ever enter your private key at wallet.looptech.io. Loop will never ask for it by email, by chat, or on any other site. The wallet itself says this on the screens where your key appears, and it means it.
Only two addresses are genuine, cantonloop.com and wallet.looptech.io, however close another spelling looks. Type the address yourself rather than following a link from an email, a post or a message.
We will never send you a migration link, by email, by direct message or in a post. We will never ask for your private key, your password, or a verification code. We will never ask you to move your funds somewhere to keep them safe.
Nobody is rushing you, and anyone telling you that you must act immediately or lose your funds is lying to you.
If anyone does any of those things, it is not us.
I think I entered my key on a fake site
Act now rather than waiting to be sure.
Create a new wallet and move your funds to it immediately. A key that has been seen by someone else cannot be made safe again, and changing your password does not help, because the password protects the stored copy of the key and not the key itself.
Then tell us what happened, with the address of the site if you still have it, so we can get it taken down before it reaches anyone else.
Keeping your key safe
While you have a copy of your key, do not leave it in a screenshot, a notes app, or an email to yourself. Once you have imported it on the new site, delete the copy.
Anyone who has your key has your wallet, and if you lose it we cannot recover it for you. That is not a policy we can bend; the key does not exist on our side.
Still stuck?
Contact us here and we will help. Please do not send us your private key, your password or a verification code, and we will never ask for them. We would much rather answer the same question fifty times than watch one person lose a wallet.
